Jack's Place began as an idea by Jimmie and Lisa Price. Jimmie, current announcer and former player for the Detroit Tigers and his wife Lisa learned about Autism after several visits to several doctors who were unable to make an accurate diagnosis. After finally receiving an accurate assessment of their son they began a difficult journey to find resources that would allow them to be best prepared for the years ahead. Little education or support services were available. Few people in the community understood what Autism was and what they were going through. After experiencing first hand the difficulties of finding support and resources for their own son, the Prices wanted to establish a vehicle for families to gain access to existing resources and to create additional services that aren't currently being provided to families who are affected by autism. It wasn't long after they began sharing their vision that they gained the support of other parents who have felt their own frustrations with the lack of support, education and services available for their families.

Jack's Place currently has over 30 individuals working in various capacities to help establish Jack's Place, and a large extended network of individuals, groups and corporations who have volunteered their services. The steering committee is currently working to promote and establish Jack's Place.

Together, the committee would also like to actively work in collaboration with existing community groups and resources to create an umbrella of services that are easily accessed. As a unified community we will raise the awareness level of Autism in Metro Detroit to further promote and address the needs of families whose lives have been affected by an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
